Univers Revers™ Shoulder Arthroplasty System: Proven for Reverse Shoulder Replacement
This reverse shoulder replacement solution can be tailored to follow the patient’s individual anatomy. With lateralization up to 8 mm and inclination angles of 135° and 155°, Univers Revers gives patients hope for better recovery and greater range of motion after a rotator cuff tear.
Univers Revers™ Total Shoulder System
The Univers Revers shoulder arthroplasty system offers surgeons a safe and effective way to treat end-stage osteoarthritis with proven clinical outcomes, better impingement-free range of motion, and tuberosity healing.1,2 Here are some facts and features about the system:
Reverse Shoulder Arthroplasty: Good for You, Good for Your Patients
The Univers Revers system isn’t just the right choice for surgeons. It’s the right choice for patients looking for pain relief from shoulder arthritis. Here are just some of the features that make this shoulder arthroplasty solution ideal for you and the people you treat:
Pain Relief
Patients reported improved quality of life, including reduced levels of pain.3,4
Restored Range of Motion
Improved shoulder mobility helps patients return to their favorite activities, including athletics.5
Long-Term Outcomes
This reverse shoulder arthroplasty system has a track record of clinically proven results you can trust.4
Solutions
Implant modularity fits the patient’s anatomy and preserves more of their natural bone,4 while the rectangular design results in early rotational stability.
Step by Step to a Healthier Shoulder
Here are 7 main steps from the Univers Revers surgical technique.
Step 1
Perform the humeral head resection.

Step 2
Prepare and implement the Modular Glenoid System.

Step 3
Perform the humeral preparation for the Univers Revers stem.

Step 4
Perform reaming for the humeral suture cup.

Step 5
Trial the shoulder construct to test for optimal results.

Step 6
Assemble and insert the modular components.

Step 7
Perform the final reduction and wound closure.

What Sets the Univers Revers Apart?
The Univers Revers shoulder arthroplasty system is unlike any shoulder arthroplasty system on the market. Here are 4 features that make it unique among the competition.
More Lateralization
Up to 8 mm when used with the Modular Glenoid System.
Improved Soft-Tissue Tensioning
This is achieved through the inlay humeral design.
Modular
The Univers Revers system is compatible with the Modular Glenoid System, which includes screw or post fixation, augments, and multiple lateralization and glenosphere options.
Fracture Repair Features
These include press-fit stem geometry, 135° inclination angle, and soft-tissue fixation points for good functional outcomes and reliable tuberosity healing.1
Univers Revers™ Modular Glenoid System
The Univers Revers Modular Glenoid System, also available as an augmented version, is a complementary addition to the Univers Revers system portfolio and builds upon the design concept of providing options for Helping Surgeons Treat Their Patients Better.
With the Modular Glenoid System, Arthrex has advanced this mission by providing a multitude of component choices, helping surgeons provide a tailored approach to individual patient needs. The Modular Glenoid System is designed to work only with the Univers Revers humeral components.

Upcoming Events
Do you still have questions about the Univers Revers™ total shoulder system?
What options are available for glenoid and humeral component sizing and fixation?
The system offers multiple baseplate diameters (24 mm and 28 mm), lateral offset options (+0 mm, +2 mm, +4 mm), and various lengths for central fixation to address different glenoid vault depths. Humeral stems are available in a range of sizes, including small profiles for smaller anatomies, and the system supports cementless fixation with features like calcium phosphate coating and a medial balcony for optimal stem height.
What lateralization options does the Universe Revers Modular Glenoid System offer?
Glenoid baseplates are available in both 24 mm and 28 mm diameters, with lateral offset options of +0 mm (neutral), +2 mm, and +4 mm. This allows the surgeon to select the desired degree of lateralization for optimal joint mechanics and soft tissue tensioning. Glenospheres are available in multiple diameters (33 mm, 36 mm, 39 mm, 42 mm, and 45 mm), with options for neutral, +4 mm lateralized, and 2.5 mm eccentric offsets, further expanding the ability to tailor lateralization intraoperatively. These options provide flexibility in managing soft tissue tension, joint stability, and biomechanics during reverse total shoulder arthroplasty.
What are the indications for using the Univers Revers system, and in which patient populations is it most appropriate?
The Univers Revers Modular Glenoid System is indicated for use in patients with a grossly rotator cuff deficient glenohumeral joint with severe arthropathy or a previously failed joint replacement with a gross rotator cuff deficiency. A functional deltoid muscle is necessary. This system is suitable for primary, fracture, or revision total shoulder replacement for pain and significant disability due to gross rotator cuff deficiency.
